Tom Moore is a former American football coach who served as an assistant coach for over 40 years in the National Football League. He was born on November 30, 1938, in Owatonna, Minnesota. He attended the University of Iowa and played quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1958 to 1960. After college, he became a coach, starting his career as an assistant coach for the Iowa Hawkeyes in 1961.
Moore's professional coaching career began in 1977 when he joined the Pittsburgh Steelers as their wide receivers coach. He then served as the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, and Indianapolis Colts. In 2009, he was a part of the Colts coaching staff that won Super Bowl XLIV.
Moore is known for his expertise in developing quarterbacks, having worked with legendary quarterbacks such as Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, and Peyton Manning. He was also instrumental in developing the "no-huddle" offense with the Colts in the 2000s.
Moore retired from coaching in 2017 but remains active in football as a consultant and mentor to young coaches. He has won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career and is widely regarded as one of the greatest offensive minds in NFL history.
